《魔兽世界》的执行制作人兼副总裁霍莉·朗代尔 recently looked back on the game’s 20-year legendary journey. With the new 11.0 patch “地心之战” about to be released, Longdale shared her thoughts on the game’s development process and the importance of listening to player opinions.

“I think we should listen more to player opinions,” Longdale said in an interview. “I think in the early days, game design wasn’t even a job, it was just a group of super passionate geeks trying to figure out how to turn a tabletop game into a 3D game. So, I think a lot of things were just done by intuition.”
吸取教训,继续前进
Longdale also talked about the lessons learned from the controversial patch “暗影国度”. “The time it took to make the content for ‘暗影国度’ was longer than we expected. We were committed to pushing it out, but it wasn’t enough, and it wasn’t the right thing. We did a deep dive into it, and we still use it as a guide for our direction forward.”

Longdale acknowledged the changes in social media and community management, saying that the development team “didn’t really reflect” on their mistakes back then. However, the team has since learned to “listen more and observe more”.
