Rest in peace, 2024 autumn release. Wētā Workshop, the developer of the upcoming Lord of the Rings game, “The Lord of the Rings: The Vala’s Tale”, has announced that the game will be delayed until early 2025. The game was originally scheduled to be released in autumn 2024 for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.

According to the announcement, the developers want to ensure that the game meets their vision. They described the game as “a quiet corner of JR·R·Tolkien’s world”, and they want to make sure that every player’s experience is just right when they first step into the game. To achieve this, they need a bit more time.

On the bright side, the developers will be hosting a showcase event on September 22nd, also known as “Hobbit Day”, which is the birthday of Bilbo and Frodo Baggins from the Lord of the Rings series. During the event, they will be showing off some of the game’s features, including cooking, fishing, foraging, decoration, and trading.
